The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences, one of the three oldest artist residency programs in America, supports the creative process by providing talented artists of all disciplines the setting and the solitude essential to creative work. For more than 70 years, the 600-acre natural environment has been a sanctuary of time and space that allows artists to develop their authentic voices, inspiring them to work at their highest levels of imagination.
Weaver and Georgia native, Mary Crovatt Hambidge, founded the Center in 1934 in memory of Jay Hambidge, artist, scholar and author. Employing local labor, she developed a farm cooperative and refined the talents of community women in spinning and weaving. The Rabun Weavers’ fine woven goods were sold to designers, decorators and celebrities at Rabun Studios on Madison Avenue in New York City.
Although Hambidge is a private retreat, visitors are welcome in the Weave Shed Gallery which schedules three ceramic exhibitions annually. Lectures, special events and the annual Hambidge Summer Festival in July are also open to the public. The historic Barkers Creek Mill, open on the first Saturday of every month, from 1pm-4pm, is a favorite local destination. Visit the Hambidge website www.hambidge.org regularly for updated event information. 706-746-5718

At Yesterday’s Treasures, we believe an Antique Mall should be full of REAL antiques. Oh sure, we may have the occasional decorator item or décor piece that enhances the look of our displays, but when it comes down to finding the real McCoy, we have it and more: real Heisey, 19th century Fostoria, Depression glass, signed pottery, mission-style furniture, quality Coca Cola collectibles, estate jewelry, vintage lithographs, original oil paintings and watercolors.
We also feature antique quilts, legitimate Civil War artifacts, collectible coins, aesthetic transfer ware, tramp art and southern primitives. In addition, you will find hand-woven textiles, needlepoint, cross stitch and crewel work samplers, various crocheted items including tablecloths and bedspreads, drawn-work linens, and specialty items handcrafted in true Southern-style tradition.
We’re proud of who we are and what we do. We offer quality merchandise at an affordable price that you will be proud to own. We have fifty veteran dealers who know the market and understand customer preferences. With over 14,000 square feet of legitimate antiques, we represent one of the largest antique malls in a tri-county area. If you are looking for a specific item call us at (706) 746-3363, or better yet, visit us at 6772 Highway 441 North, Dillard GA 30537.

In 1985, when Jerry and Bev Rose transformed their skating rink into the Appalachian Trader antiques mall, they began an adventure as antiques dealers which has spanned more than two decades. Eventually they sold the rink and moved into the old courthouse at Savannah Place in Clayton. After several years they made another move to Dillard. In January 2007 they purchased the old feed store in Dillard located at 1093 Franklin Street and it became their permanent home after extensive remodeling.
Their inventory consists of country primitives, old tools, cast iron cookware, fishing gear, crockery, Life magazines and anything else that takes you back in time to the old farmstead, general store or tender memories in great grandma’s kitchen. In their search for merchandise they have traveled New England, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Missouri, but their favorite areas are Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. The Roses invite you to stop by and visit with them and enjoy stepping back into a time that they now refer to as “the good ol’ days”. For specific information or hours of operation please call 706-746-5253.

Over the years Osage Farms has become a popular destination in our beautiful mountains. Nestled in the heart of the valley at 5030 Highway 441 in Rabun Gap, Osage Farms is a family owned vegetable and Fraser Fir Christmas tree farm. The vegetable market is open everyday May thru October. The market has seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables grown by Ricky and Clint James. A few of the vegetables they grow are both heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, cabbage, green beans, peppers, potatoes and the sweetest corn you have ever tasted! Be sure to visit Osage Farms Produce Market in May for fresh strawberries.
As soon as the vegetable harvest is over, Ricky and Clint and their families begin to harvest Christmas trees at their Scaly Mountain, NC farm, just 9 miles from Dillard. In Scaly Mountain Osage Farms operates a “choose and cut” Christmas tree farm. While back at the Rabun Gap location the retail stand opens Thanksgiving Day with fresh cut Fraser Fir trees and wreaths. Come by or call 706-746-7262 to see what Osage Farms harvested today. Remember Osage Farms, your produce destination.
A Dillard landmark for almost 30 years, The Merry Christmas Shop has had several owners, each adding his or her specific style to the store. Although it was completely remodeled in 2005, another 1,400 square feet has recently been added creating wider aisles and more elbow room. From top selling Department 56 Villages to the wildly popular Jim Shore figurines and Willow Tree angels, owner Ben McInnes handpicks items that he himself enjoys. “If I don’t like it, it doesn’t come into the store.”
The shop also features college–themed merchandise from universities in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Also popular are the “Byers Choice Carolers,” famous for their Handcrafted-in-America label. McInnes also features a wide assortment of ornaments like ballerinas, cowboys (and girls), hunting and fishing designs and every imaginable combination in between. The shop’s inventory also offers décor items for autumn, Halloween and Thanksgiving.
McInnes says he has something for everyone! “People will stick their heads in the door and comment, ‘Oh it’s just Christmas,’ then they take a second look and see all the wonderful seasonal gift items we have. Then they browse for an hour.”
Located on the boardwalk, next to the Dillard General Store, The Merry Christmas Shop is a –MUST SEE.
