The building which houses The Valley Pharmacy is truly a Dillard landmark. It was built sometime around 1920. Current owner and pharmacist, Frank Cathey, has been dispensing prescriptions there since 1972. Cathey says that his store may not have vast aisles of merchandise like big drugstore chains, but he is equipped to do everything larger pharmacies can do. “The difference is we offer service with a personal touch. We know our customers. Many of them are old friends and we greet them by name and treat them the way we would want to be treated ourselves.” In addition to a full-service pharmacy, the store is home to an old-fashioned soda fountain complete with sandwiches, shakes, sodas and hand-dipped ice cream. Stop by to have a prescription filled or stop by for a coke and experience some down-home southern hospitality.
